It finally feels as if we've come to the end of a very long and miserable winter here in Wales. It's been cold, wet and windy, plus with the lockdown we've been unable to escape in the van!
Yesterday there was a definite feel of spring in the air with plenty of sunshine (what's that? It's been so long!), the birds were singing and there was a feel of optimism around - people out for a walk with smiles on their faces - we even had a cup of tea outside in the garden! No mean feat to tease Kate out away from the central heating!
Unable to resist the urge to go and capture some of this sunshine on paper, I headed down to the beach to see what I could find. I took my oil painting sketch book (a small piece of special oil painting paper which I will then stick in my sketch book later) and did a small sketch of South Beach in Aberaeron. This won't be for sale but I will use it as a reference to repaint the scene back at home in my studio
